well, i know a bit about building computers and a friend asked me to compile something for him. i'd just like to proofread my work, and rather than going out and looking for individual reviews on every single piece i think i'm just going to see if anyone here can find anything wrong at a glance:
MOTHERBOARD $104.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131032
PROCESSOR $224 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115004

VIDEO CARD $299.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150211
OPTICAL DRIVE $30.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151136
MONITOR $179.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001084
MEMORY $206.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820142013
COMPUTER CASE $109.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112040
POWER SUPPLY $41.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104953
KEYBOARD/MOUSE $19.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823704001
SPEAKERS $59.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836113138
$1333
basically, are there any compatibility (pci slots mainly) issues, or any products i picked that are known to fail?
i know the audigy isn't really high-end, but he's not an audio guy. E-MU 1212M is clearly the best sound card for under $100 imo. i own those speakers personally too, and they're really good for computer speakers.
he already has multiple copies of XP. he plays world of warcraft and i know the 7600gt will be able to handle that, but also wants to play some FPS games. i'm not sure what, the name vangaurd comes to mind but that must be wrong because that's a medal of honor game iirc. will the 7600gt be able to handle most games coming out in the near future, or rwould a 7950gt be optimal? his max budget is $1500.
i also know ebay'd be a lot cheaper but he doesnt want to go that route.
thanks in advance!
