sweet i have ddr2 and a 775 so i can get it.

that wil l depend on the motherboard, and if it can support the new Conroe's. Some boards only support Core Duo... and not Core 2 Duo.

you will want to go thru your system specs and do some research first before buying a CPU blindly, then finding out you have to upgrade a lot more cause the board won't support it. Please provide your specs and we can help with trying to pick out some good parts for what you have.

We need to know the model of your motherboard, to see if it's Core 2 Duo ready.

i have a ati x1900xtx

4 gigs of ram 557 mhz (not to good)

intel pd 3.2

for motherboard that program said intel i945p

When did you build or have the pc built?

EDIT: from what I read it onyl supports p4, pent. D, pent. EE, and celeron D.

But that is a biostar 945p.

Yeah that should be a big improvement. I have an e6600 and it is blazing fast even at stock speeds. Just be sure that your motherboard is Socket LGA 775 and not anything else. Core 2 Duos only support LGA 775. You'll need DDR2 RAM too.

big improvement is an understatement.
that will be like moving from a cave to the playboy mansion.
